Henry Gross, Sr, born in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, on July 21, 1783, died in 1834 in Tiffin, Ohio. He was maried to Jane Hunter Gross, born in Pennsylvania in February 1781. She died in Tiffin on January 16, 1866. They had been married on
February 7, 1809. They had several childred as Charles B. Gross, 1810 (became a gunsmith), Henry Gross Jr. 1813-1892
(became a gunsmith), Samuel Gross (would have repaired guns, pistols etc.).
The name Gross was originally spelled Groce. Some early long rifles were marked so on their barrel. He was found on the 1820 tax list of Union Township, Pennsylvania as a gunsmith. In Tiffin, Henry Gross Sr. put up a 2 story hewed log house on the north
side of Perry Street, where he lived with his family and carried on the gunsmith business, together with repairing of
all kind of mechanic things.
